Thanks John for the sentiments and thoughts - he blogs occasionally on watches here at Watch Space.
On paper, this watch can't be beat for under 0: Sapphire crystal, unique-but-proven Swiss ETA movement, hand-assembly and quality control based in the US, tough-brushed steel, screwed-in bracelet, crown and back, and a unique take on a classic style.

I love this watch. I've always loved Bulgari anything, but this watch is just so sensuous and harmonious...I want it now.

As a woman in my mid-twenties, who's been in a serious relationship for the better part of a decade, this is something that really interests me. Watches are my thing, so this would really impress me.
It's unfortunate that watch sales were slightly down last year for Bulgari. But with releases such as this one, especially in comparison to previous years and collections, I can see that Bulgari is definitely branching out and finding their true voice now.Read more ›
From one of the coolest and quirkiest luxury watch makers around, de GRISOGONO, comes the Fuso Quadrato watch for 2009. Aside from the interesting shutter-style complication the watch looks pretty stylish in its 47mm 18k pink or white gold glory. The rounded square case will look good particularly good on the wrist as sometimes harsh geometric angles looks awkward on the organic shapes of our hands. While the watch is clearly from the de GRISOGONO line, it is a very new design direction for the company. Powering the watch is the automatic mechanical de GRISOGONO DF 21-90 movement with hours, minutes, and a second time zone hand.

The winder is very easy to open up with the removal of three screws located in the base. The bottom of the winder comes off like a cover, giving you very easy access to the mechanics. This isn't the first time that I have opened up a winder, and was impressed with how easy it was. You can see that the different parts are all clipped together - basically making them inter changeable, so if one died, you could easily save the whole device by just replacing the bad part. Notice these clips at the white blocks in the images.Read more ›
The reason I really like Jumping Hour watches is their convenient simplicity and ease of use. To tell the time you glance at the digit in the hour window (for the hour), and then observe the position of the minute hand. It reduces the mental calculation required to tell the time, and it's more 'pure' that a wholly digital watch. Just think about using a Jumping Hour watch and consider how it would be easier. Jumping Hour watches have a lot of use, but are difficult to design because it is hard to play with the orientation of the hands to make each new Jumping Hour watch look fresh. Perrelet has taken the approach of adding a large seconds dial to enhance the interest of the look. I think the contrasting colors and textures are well done.

- 2. Look through their watch selection and choose your favorite watch (other than any in the Dievas Zeta series), and consider why you like it.
- 3. Add a comment to this post with, 1) the name of the watch that you like on GnomonWatches, 2) a URL link to the watch (copy the whole address and paste it into the comment) so that other people can be impressed by your selection, and 3) a sentence or two on why you like the watch you chose.
- 4. Sit back and wait. The contest will be over when enough people have entered. Encourage your friends to enter to speed that up. If you win, you'll be contacted for your contact information, so just make sure you enter your correct e-mail address when commenting.
You don't see combinations like this very often. Here, German Marcello C. has fitted their Nettuno Chronograph watch with a PVD black bezel and PVD black pushers and crown, against a stainless steel case. I think it is a very attractive combo. The look results in sort of a two-tone look that is quite popular these days. It makes the watch very noticeable as well - being more "striking" than models without the color combo. This is the first ever use of PVD in the Nettuno watch collection that I am aware of as well. You will notice of course that there are "mirror" image watches here. As one of the Nettuno Bi-Color Chronograph watches has a steel case with black pushers and bezel, the other version has a PVD black case with steel pushers and a steel bezel. Pretty cool right? Further, the PVD cased version comes with a totally PVD coated bracelet that ought to be really nice. This is one of the best diver's style bracelets on the market that I've experienced, and I'd love to experience it in all black. You can read a bit more about it when I reviewed the Marcello Nettuno 3 Diver's watch here with much esteem.
This was easily one of my favorite watches of JCK Las Vegas and my current favorite Ernst Benz watch. I consider this to sort of be a Rolex Explorer II on steroids, the 47mm wide steel case size might have a bit to do with that. Of course the style is similar to the Explorer II as well, just look at the GMT hand and the 24 hour bezel. Ernst Benz probably doesn't like all the comparisons to the Rolex, but most of you will easily see that. Then Ernst Benz starts with its own style. They indicate that the watch is meant to be retro inspired, which is part of the style of the finish of the bi-directional rotating bezel. Actually, the bezel is not my favorite part of the watch, though I would easily live with it. I like how the numbers are engraved into the bezel and darkened, but I would have done the polish on the metal a bit differently - minor point though.Read more ›
Before talking more about the case of the watch I'd like to continue talking about the functionality, so such a simple looking watch, the Wave Ceptor WVA430J-1A does a lot. Four buttons on the case help with the operation which includes a calendar, stopwatch, world time, and 3 alarms (there is also a function to check the battery life, adjust the hands if they are knocked out of place, and for the radio signal receiver). The functions are easy to use but not visually branded all over the case. Some of the Casio G-Shock watches as designed to imply a degree of multi-functionality. This Wave Ceptor is sort of the opposite. Looking simple, but doing a lot. Each of these functions is operated using the LCD screen, via cycling function screens that any Casio owner will be familiar with. As is common in all atomic clock radio controlled watches, there is a lot of functionality and options there. You can set the watch to manually receive signals, set your area, and other important functions related to a watch that gives you the pleasure of knowing it is always correct. Casio has this aspect of the watch well integrated, but it will still require consulting with the guide at first for some education.
The Perrelet Diamond Flower watch featured above is breathtaking, and is versatile not only in its manufacturing but its options. Solid stainless steel - solid rose gold - or two-tone (steel and gold). Whether it be the cream dial with diamonds, red indices, and rubies - or blue with diamonds and sapphires - or rose gold with a chocolate dial and diamonds - there is a model to fit your own color palette.Read more ›

In a nutshell, the watch has a very thin profile steel 40mm wide case (without the diminutive crown), with a handsome looking mesh steel bracelet. With it’s thin bezel, the watch face looks very large, even though the size of the watch is only in the upper medium range. I think the size is perfect actually. The dial has a lot of grazing space for your eyes, but also has a nice circular arrangement of Arabic numerals. This makes it one of the more legible Skagen watches in my opinion. The dial is slate (gray) colored with some vertical texturing when you look closely (actually brushed metal), and the applied hour makers and hands are chromed, and raised just a bit.
